A Perfect Business Climate

From our talented workforce to our strategic geographic location, Florida offers the ideal conditions for your business to thrive. Cultivate new opportunities and expand your reach in a cost-competitive environment that celebrates your success.

Florida is pretty close as you can get to paradise, whether your dream is sitting on the beach, not moving a muscle, or getting out there, working hard, playing hard, and helping other people achieve their dreams.

The great thing is that it’s always been this way – as proven by an almost steady migration of people coming to this beautiful part of the world to live and work ever since word started spreading about the opportunities to experience “Lake Worth Country” in the 19th century.

Today, the West Palm Beach area contains around 100,000 people – a decent-sized community but also one that avoids much of the sprawl of the Miami area.

Much of the economy is dedicated to tourism, as expected, since visitors from around the world continue to love experiencing our area’s sunshine and natural beauty, and people here enjoy offering them products and services to help them do so.

Many other strong communities do this, of course, but West Palm Beach has many other great things going for it, that, in the words of Kelly Smallridge, president and CEO of the West Palm Beach Business Development Board, not only make it a decent place to work and raise a family, but an excellent choice for a company to locate their headquarters – in short, “a perfect business climate.”

  • • Strong business support. Resources for local businesses include the West Palm Business Development Board; the Downtown Development Authority; the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, all with the goals of creating a positive environment where businesses can prosper. The city even includes a Procurement Division, which can assist businesses in obtaining supplies and services.

  • • Interest in rejuvenation: The Community Redevelopment Agency is dedicated to transforming parts of the area that have declined over the years, including the Historic Northwood District, Northwest and Pleasant City.  A variety of incentives are available for businesses interested in relocating, or for developers interested in creating new housing opportunities. Businesses that already exist in these areas are also eligible for incentives to help them make improvements.

  • • Quality of life. This term can be subjective but generally means that there’s a lot to appeal to just about every interest, from shopping to nightlife, from dining to sports, pretty much overall culture. The Norton Museum of Art is the largest art museum in the state. Sun Fest, a waterfront art and music festival, attracts some of the world’s top performers each spring. Two major-league baseball teams begin spring training here. There’s even a zoo!

West Palm Beach has weathered several booms and busts over its history, including being declared one of the country’s fastest growing communities in the 1960s. By many accounts, it’s going through another period of exciting growth, which spells great opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses.
